Galasso, if you’re still working on your snappy comeback aftereight friggin’ years, you should probably just give up.
And he didn’t even deliver it to the right person. Cheesus.

Because I am a monster, I’ve made that first comic incredibly sad, in retrospect.
Though why might not be fully apparent until tomorrow night.

So FishEye (an israeli movie review site) is having a big discussion about women in the media and the Bechdel Test when I suddenly realised something.

The only reason that “Dumbing of Age” passed the Reverse Bechdel Test is because Mike and Walky talked about CLOTHES.

Okay, it was Pyjama Jeans

BUT STILL

hahahaha

  • Me: So Shortpacked! got this character who's the "Historical Jesus". Y'know, he's Jesus like he probably really was: Short, brownish jewish man who yell about the end of the world and giving to the poor and all of that stuff.
  • Dad: Yeah?
  • Me: Yeah, the manager of the store rised him from the dead, 'cuase controversy makes is a good way to get advertising
  • Dad: Heh, Cute
  • Me: So there was a strip of all the characters going to see "the Avengers", and we see all of them after the movie: the Batman nerd says it could've used more Batman, the Marvel nerd says it's the best movie ever-
  • Dad: Well, it IS
  • Me: And then of one them asks "What did you think, Jesus" and we see Historical Jesus sitting there, shocked saying "That's the greatest movie I've ever seen" and then we see a tagline that says "the Avengers: the Greatest Movie Jesus Christ Have Ever Seen"
  • Dad: *Laugh*
  • Me: And down at the bottom it says "Out of a sample size of "the Avengers", "Short Circuit" and "Short Circuit 2"
  • Dad: Huh? What's "Short Circuit"?
  • Me: It's a movie from the 80's about a robot
  • Dad: Why would Historical Jesus watch this movie?
  • Me: Oh! That's becuase ANOTHER character in the comics is a talking car and the "Short Circuit" movies are his favorite movies becuase he's an A.I, too and...
  • Dad: ...
  • Me: It makes more sense when you read the comic
  • Dad: I sure hope so

“‘The way things should be’ became ‘the way things are’ because - and this is important - they were always that way to begin with. We just had to remember.”

David Willis, author of one of my favorite webcomics, Dumbing of Age, posted on his page that his recent story arc had been bringing in a fair amount of fanart, and I decided to jump on the bandwagon.
Dumbing of Age is an alternate universe comic that features characters he’s created over the better part of a decade in his other webcomics “Shortpacked” and “It’s Walky” and updates Mon-Fri. He has such great pacing and story development that I find myself going crazy waiting for each page, even though they come out so frequently! When I was first linked to the comic, I read it backwards from latest to see if I was interested in it. After going back 50 comics deep, I realized it would join my weekly rotation, and I read it from the beginning.
This character, Joyce, is the first one we’re introduced to in the series, and she’s a fundamentalist Christian going off to college where her sheltered upbringing starts to clash with the real world. This outfit is from the most recent arc where she’s being pushed to wear something besides sweater vests, and…
